Scrappy looking posters have been plastered on every flat surface in Gridania - the Bread n' Bruises Social is occurring!A multi-ring spar gathering where several duels unfold at once, the poster explains that combatants may challenge freely or be paired through a pre-filled "Fight Card" that matches tone, style, and preferred intensity. A lighthearted combat system using /random 20 will be provided to encourage meet-cute friendly interactions rather than high-stakes dice games. After each short bout, participants may rotate to additional fights or take a break with their new sparring partner for refreshments or a needed rest.
While this is a sparring event, it is also a good way to meet others! Chat with spectators, congratulate fighters after their bouts, or ask for a medic if you didn't like that cut you just got.
Please be sure to use the RP tag when participating in the event so that everyone knows you're with the group!
All combat is friendly sparring only—no killing blows, permanent wounds, or excessive brutality.
Communicate and avoid godmodding.
This is a safe for work event and other kinds of "wrestling" are not permitted in public. Get a room.
Play nice - unruly participants will be promptly suplexed into submission.
For simplicity, familiarity, and fairness, the Bread n' Bruises Social will be using the Grindstone's combat mechanics . Combat is broken down into a few simple steps:This event utilizes the /random feature!
Both opponents roll initiative. The highest roll wins and attacks first.
The attacking player writes their post in a custom emote using /em. After posting, they roll the die.
The defending player rolls their die to defend. If the defender rolls higher than the attack, they have successfully avoided damage. A lower roll means they have been struck. In the event of a tie, re-roll both attack and defense.
Regardless, after determining the result, the defender then posts their /emote to show the effect.
Switch roles and repeat. The defender is now on the offensive and the attacker is defending.
First person to win three contests wins the match. However, to facilitate other matches there is a time limit of 50 minutes per match. Once the 50 minutes are up, the person with the highest number of points will win the match. If it is currently at a draw, the match will be sudden death, and next roll will decide the victor.
